Day-by-day Outlining

Hey guys!

Here's the skinny. I'm sorry I missed yesterday's blog, but I got caught up with a lot of homework, and a lot of other extra-curricular activities, such as Improv, stretching, and helping my friends out of jams. Doesn't sound like I should be too busy to blog, but I wasn't too busy to write.

I started off yesterday with the same worry I had been having for a while; WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? And with the deadline breathing down my neck, I have had to think and write during classes, and pretty much everywhere I cam. I've even woken up at 3 in the morning from an idea and wrote it down. I'm always going with this thing. My goal yesterday was to reach 25 pages, hopefully, as I started at 21. The day started, and ended, and I made it to 27 pages, and counting. I was very stoked. Now understand, I'm not 100% in love with what is happening all of the time, or the way the stories are playing out and such. But for the most part, I'm keeping up with my daily quota, and writing constantly with a smile on my face regardless of how ridiculous things are sounding.

Todays' quota is at least 30 pages. I've already rummaged through a ton of it in my Modern Art and Lighting classes, and now I just have to put it on paper. I hope I exceed that, but we'll see.

The scene I just worked out is Charlotte is having a pitch meeting with an exec named Mr. Mulligan. It doesn't explain any part of what she is writing about, and I think this is the angle I'm going to work throughout the whole story. Danny wants to know what she's writing about, but she never gets to tell him until the end, and the audience doesn't know until Danny knows. She will jot down notes and such throughout the story, things she sees, things that happen to her, and all that jazz. I might not like this approach at the end of the story, but for now, it's an angle I'm working, to leave some mystery to it.

My big issue that I still constantly worry about is the fact that this is a romantic COMEDY! I worry that what I'm writing isn't funny enough. I've been reading Wes Anderson's Rushmore script as I've been writing, and as I read, I catch myself laughing. Sure, it might be because I've seen the movie several times and find it hysterical, but then again, the way he writes, and the things that he makes people say is what makes me laugh too. It's hilarious. I will be posting up some snippets of scenes soon, and I'll need your guys' feedback.

My question for you is: Did it make you laugh?

Thanks everyone!
